Director - Helen Moran
Helen trained as an actor at the Drama Studio, Sydney, 1982 – 84. Her first professional theatre work in New Zealand was with Mervyn Thompson and she performed in three of his plays over 1989 and 90. Since then her work in devising and physical theatre with Bert van Dijk was particularly inspiring and formative and she is drawing on this work in the direction of EARTHQUAKES AND BUTTERFLIES. Helen has devised, produced and toured 3 solo shows, the last of which, THE BONE KEEPER’S STORY, she co-wrote with Kathleen Gallagher. Helen’s directorial work includes JESUS MY BOY and SCARAMOUCHE JONES with Martin Howells and many youth theatre productions. She sees EARTHQUAKES AND BUTTERFLIES as a community theatre event, a 7th anniversary ritual, which invites us to reflect on the transformation of our lives, our city and ourselves.
Movement Director - Fleur de Thier
Fleur is a Christchurch based artist who has been working in the dance industry for the last 27 years. She trained for three years full time at Auckland Performing Arts School (now Unitec) graduating in 1991. Fleur worked as a freelance dancer in Auckland before returning to base herself in Christchurch.
Fleur is an established New Zealand choreographer and has had works featured nationally in Arts Festivals throughout the last decade and is known for her diversity and connections with many different companies including Jolt Dance Theatre, Rebound, Southern Lights Dance Company ,Unitec, Footnote and Lyttelton Arts Factory. Fleur is currently artistic advisor and choreographer for Hagley Dance company.

Set Designer - Chris Reddington
Chris Reddington is a sculptor, award-winning set designer, composer, ensemble director and musician. He has a degree in Craft design from Christchurch Polytechnic and has worked for New Zealand sculptors Neil Dawson and Graham Bennett. He has completed sculptural commissions for the Christchurch City Council, CPIT and St Thomas of Canterbury College. Chris has designed and made many sets for the Free Theatre, IMAGINE Youth Theatre, One Man Banned Productions and Ben McDonald touring musical productions, most recently SOUND OF MUSIC and SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. He is currently also designing the set for TITUS ANDRONICUS at the Court Theatre. In addition to designing the set and props for EARTHQUAKES AND BUTTERFLIES Chris has advised on sound for this production.
Playwright - Kathleen Gallagher
Kathleen Gallagher is a poet, playwright, filmmaker and novelist. She received the New Zealand Playwrights Award in 1993, and the Sonja Davies Peace Award in 2004 for the film Tau Te Mauri Breath Of Peace. She has authored three collections of poetry, 16 plays, six feature films, and one novel. Her films Earth Whisperers Papatuanuku, Water Whisperers Tangaroa and Sky Whisperers Ranginui, have played in cinema and film festivals throughout New Zealand and around the world.
Her most recent work is the novel Earthquakes & Butterflies - Otautahi Christchurch launched in Christchurch on September 2015, on the 5th anniversary of the beginning of the Christchurch earthquakes sequence (2010 - 2012).
